Graduate Research Assistant in CellFe Labs since January 2024

Kritika Thakur

Hello! I am a graduate student in the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering department at SD Mines. I joined CellFe Lab in January 2024 and am currently working on an NSF Future Manufacturing Project to synthesize Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) from Corn Stover using Cell-Free Biomanufacturing. For this project, I am harnessing the capabilities of a thermophilic non-model microbe, Geobacillus sp. cnambio1, to develop enzyme systems that operate outside of living cells. My skill set includes enzyme engineering, biocatalysis, and advanced techniques for biopolymer synthesis.
